The Alliance for Affordable Services was encouraged to hear President Obama address two key issues that Alliance Members have ranked as top legislative priorities:
A recent article noted that “the Senate Finance Committee is enlisting the small-business group Alliance for Affordable Services to survey its members for possible legislative remedies to combat double-digit unemployment numbers that are plaguing the economy.”
The Alliance for Affordable Services has announced its 2009-2010 scholarship recipients and has awarded $288,000 in scholarships to 201 students from across the nation. Alliance proudly offers educational assistance to dependents of its members and is pleased to help these students achieve their dreams.
The Alliance for Affordable Services will hold its Annual Meeting of Members on October 9, 2009. Highlights of the meeting will include a review of the association’s accomplishments for the past year and the election of the board of directors.
More than 1,000 members responded to the recent legislative survey and many of you voiced strong opinions about recent government actions and issues currently under debate in Congress.
The face of retirement planning in America has undergone a radical shift over the past few decades. Time was when most Americans worked for companies that provided pension plans—retirement benefits that were guaranteed and funded completely by employers. Starting in the 1970s, however, many companies began cutting back on pension benefits, and legislation created new types of retirement plans that placed the primary responsibility for retirement planning squarely on individuals, not employers.
More small businesses will be eligible for U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loans, meaning greater access to much-needed capital in this tough economy, as a result of a temporary alternate size standard for the agency's largest lending program.
