Make a Difference Day
Saturday, October 28, 2006
Do you remember a particular person or a certain day that impacted your life? Make a Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors across the nation. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. The next event is Saturday, October 28, 2006.
Everyone – including you – can participate. Your project can be as large or as small as you wish! Look around your community and see what needs to be done.
Imagine how much work was accomplished last year when 3 million people volunteered in their communities. Whether it is a college campus taking on a project or a single person lending a hand, Make a Difference Day serves as an event to improve the places where we live. Find something that needs to be done in your community and take on the responsibility.
Following a simple mission, “Put your cares on hold for one day to care for someone else,” Make a Difference Day offers countless opportunities to participate. Anyone –young and old, individuals or groups – can take on a project that impacts the lives of others. Could you use some ideas for volunteering your services?

Each year in April, hundreds of good deeds done on Make A Difference Day are selected for honors, headlines and charitable donations. Actor-philanthropist Paul Newman supports this event by awarding $10,000 in charitable donations to ten Make Difference Day projects.
